Baxterbear was TREEKLED to join in with the Scotland vs South Africa Armed Forces Day rugby match at Murrayfield. He was one of the mascots for the match and he was kept busy all day, meeting the crowd. Baxterbear was TREEKLED to be at Murrayfield once again, after being the mascot at the same event last year.
It was quite a day for Baxterbear! The rugby did not kick off until three o’clock, but Baxterbear was inside the stadium at midday. He was TREEKLED to meet BBC presenter Jill Douglas.
Baxterbear was TREEKLED to get an exclusive pass into Murrayfield before the crowds had even arrived, and he had a long queue of Murrayfield staff waiting to get their photo taken with Baxterbear!
Baxterbear then made his way to the family zone, but he bumped into Lt Col Mike Tanner, Commanding Officer 45 Commando, on his way there.
At the family zone, Baxterbear met many of the young boys and girls who were TREEKLED to be at the rugby, and, of course, to meet Baxterbear!
It was then time for the teams to arrive, and Baxterbear, along with Edinburgh Rugby mascot Fintry, and Glasgow Warriors mascot Clyde, were at the front of the line, welcoming the teams to Murrayfield! Baxterbear even got himself onto BBC television while the pipe band paraded the teams in.
Then, it was into the stadium, and Baxterbear was certainly a popular guy! He danced along to the music in front of the crowd and met many boys and girls, as well as quite a few of the older generation too! Baxterbear spent half an hour pitch-side, entertaining all the fans, before it was time for kick-off.
Baxterbear watched the first half of the match, and then was back out by the pitch at half time. With Scotland losing 21-0, a lot of the crowd was upset with the first half, but Baxterbear was TREEKLED to cheer them all up in time for the second half!
What a day for Baxterbear and he cannot wait until his next rugby match!
Baxterbear was helping in the fundraising efforts for Help for Heroes, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, Royal Navy and Marines Charity and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
