During 2011 the zoo will be giving people a chance to meet him at a special event, details of which have yet to be announced.
Baxterbear was born on February 29, 1928, and spent most of his early life in Scotland - in fact in the 1930s he made his first visit to Edinburgh Zoo and met Sally the elephant.
Since then he has fought in World War II, been a tea and coffee tasting bear, and more recently taken part in numerous charity events around the world.
